IMPACTISM

The Impact Flow

Designing Impact Intentionally

Ideas alone do not create transformation.

Values without purpose lack direction.

Purpose without vision can remain unclear.

Vision without goals remains aspiration.

Goals without work remain plans.

Work without value becomes activity.

Value without sustained positive outcomes does not become lasting impact.

Impactism therefore connects seven stages into one continuous flow:

  1. Values
  2. Purpose
  3. Vision
  4. Goals
  5. Work
  6. Value
  7. Impact
Values

VALUES — THE FOUNDATION

Values establish the principles that guide decisions and behavior.

They answer:

What do we stand for?

Values create the ethical foundation upon which purpose, decisions and actions are built.

Purpose

PURPOSE — THE WHY

Purpose gives meaning and direction.

It answers:

Why do we exist?
Why does our work matter?
What contribution should we make?
Vision

VISION — THE DESTINATION

Vision translates purpose into a picture of the future.

It answers:

What future are we trying to create?
Goals

GOALS — THE MILESTONES

Goals translate vision into measurable priorities.

They make direction actionable and allow progress to be evaluated.

Work

WORK — THE EXECUTION

Purpose must eventually become action.

Work represents discipline, systems, implementation and consistency.

It is where intention begins turning into reality.

Value

VALUE — THE CONTRIBUTION

Activity alone is not enough.

Value emerges when work:

solves problems,

improves lives,

creates opportunity,

strengthens systems, or

makes something meaningfully better.

Impact

IMPACT — THE DIFFERENCE

Impact is the meaningful difference created through value.

Impact asks:

What changed because we acted?

Meaningful impact should be capable of being observed, understood and, wherever possible, measured.

From Random Activity to Designed Impact

The Impact Flow helps create alignment.

  1. Values guide purpose.
  2. Purpose shapes vision.
  3. Vision creates goals.
  4. Goals focus work.
  5. Work creates value.
  6. Value generates impact.

Impactism calls this:

Designed Impact.
